A collaboration of UMass and Amherst College faculty choreographers: Lauren Cox, Michele Byrd-McPhee, Angelica Monteiro & Jenna Riegal, plus a restaging of Katherine Dunham's Progressions
The Amherst College/UMass Amherst Fall Faculty Dance Concert is a new tradition of the joining of our two departments to perform and celebrate both new and historic works choreographed by our faculty and guest artists. This fall, four faculty members from Amherst College and UMass are creating original dances: Michele Byrd-McPhee, Lauren Cox, Angelica Monteiro, and Jenna Riegel. They have the special honor of presenting a restaging by Saroya Corbett of Katherine Dunham's exposition of the fundamentals of Dunham Technique, Progressions in Dunham Technique.
Five College Dance students are provided the opportunity to work collaboratively with and learn from these faculty and guests in their creative processes with a culminating experience of performing in a fully produced concert at Kirby Theater, Amherst College. Faculty and students alike very much look forward to sharing our artistic endeavors with our local Five College communities!
