Creating maps might seem routine, and it’s easy to underestimate the value of your skills (“Anyone can do this, right?”). But in the real world, mapping can have life-changing—and even life-saving—impacts. A simple map showing ALS clinic locations and available services can be critical for patients seeking care. The same goes for mapping bike lanes, park access, native species habitats, and countless other datasets that shape communities and inform decisions.
This presentation will highlight essential geospatial skills and knowledge that can help you make a meaningful impact—whether through volunteer efforts or in a professional setting.
