About this Event
154 Hicks Way, Amherst, Massachusetts 01003
https://libcal.library.umass.edu/event/13127240As part of a generous Campus Climate Grant the UMass’s Alliance Against Ableism has created an exhibition of curated political cartoons of Mouth Magazine. Mouth was founded by disability activist Lucy Gwin. “Through the often acerbic pages of Mouth and her other activism, Gwin took on a wide range of issues… insisting on the necessity of an all-disability rights approach, advocating for home- and community-based services, critiquing the concept of "normality" and the myriad systemic failures to cope with disability.”1
The exhibition of these evergreen cartoons will be available in the Lower Level of the Du Bois Library starting Sep 9, 2024 through September 30, 2024. We hope you will engage with this exhibit and join us on September 25th as we host the Caravan for Disability Justice and Freedom. We will be at the exhibit as part of the Caravan on the 25th from 9-11:30am and would be happy to see you there and discuss the exhibit and the current disability justice movements happening on our campus.
