Join us at the University Museum of Contemporary for an opening reception and celebration of our spring semester exhibitions on February 13 from 5-7 p.m.
Contemporary visual artist Laylah Ali is known for her paintings depicting abiguous race relations marked by precision and graphic clarity. This spring, Ali presents a body of more than one hundred drawings in her exhibition, "Is anything the matter? Drawings by Laylah Ali." Several series, including "Self-Portraits with Nat Turner's Vision" and "Commonplace Drawings" will fill the museum's Main and West galleries.
Meanwhile, an exhibition drawing from the museum's permanent collection will show in the East Gallery. The dynamic, interactive exhibition, “High Five/Take Five” invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and engage with five remarkable works of art from the museum’s permanent collection.
Come see these two phenomenal exhibitions at the opening reception.
Register in advance. The event is free and open to all.
