Unangan/Sugpiaq poet Abigail Chabitnoy will read from her current work in progress, an epic in fragments informed by Indigenous oral storytelling traditions and engaged in confronting the conflicting sides of ruin as necessitated by a dynamic framework of survivance. Weavinn Sug’stun language in an island-based poetics, Chabitnoy’s work reflects a compulsive need to explore--by conversing with the past, present and future, the daily, the mythic, and the historic—no less a charge than how to survive.
