The Office of the Provost's Faculty Diversity team, in collaboration with UMass ADVANCE and in consultation with the Office of Faculty Development and the Academic Personnel Office, offers STRIPE (Strategies and Tactics for Retention through Inclusive Promotion Evaluation) Workshops for members of college, school, and department personnel committees.

STRIPE Training Workshops aim to address barriers to faculty retention and build a more diverse and inclusive UMass Amherst community. This is an optional two-hour training intended to address the particular challenges of the faculty evaluation and promotion process, with the goal of developing strategies and best practices to minimize inequities, strategically counteract unconscious bias, and support inclusion and inclusivity in faculty promotion and tenure cases, setting the stage for greater retention of faculty, especially women and faculty from groups historically underrepresented in the academy.
