Your New England Center of Excellence in Vector-bonre Disease (NEWVEC) is hosting two speakers of interest to the tick and tick-borne disease community.  

 

On 11-February-2025 Eric Siegel, UMass Microbiology PhD candiate, will be talking about ""Exploiting the Essentiality of Borrelia burgdorferi's guaB for Reservoir Host-Targeted Interventions."  Eric has published a number of interesting papers and this latest reports on an interesting new drug that may help the fight against Lyme Disease. 

 

On 13-February-2025, Dr. Nathan Grubaugh, Professor at Yale University, will present on ""Genomic ecology of mosquito- and tick-borne viruses."  Dr. Grubaugh is conducting cutting edge research on the growing number of viral pathogens transmitted by ticks.
